About Dr. Lyndsay Foster

EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE.

 

Dr. Lyndsay Foster (she/her) is a registered doctoral psychologist with the Saskatchewan College of Psychologists based in Prince Albert, SK. Originally from Regina, she completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 2012 at the University of New Brunswick. During her doctoral training, Dr. Foster worked in hospital settings, a First Nations mental health centre, as well as a private practice focused on sex therapy and psychological assessment. She also taught an undergraduate course on the psychology of women. 


Dr. Foster returned to Saskatchewan to complete her residency with the Saskatoon Health Region in Clinical Health Psychology, Child & Youth Mental Health, and Community Mental Health Services. She worked as a staff psychologist at the Prince Albert Mental Health Centre from 2012 to 2024 providing psychotherapy, consultation, and assessment services to individuals across the lifespan. She also served as primary supervisor for the Prince Albert rotation of the Saskatoon and Area Pre-doctoral Residency Program and was active in training both graduate students and new psychologists.

Dr. Foster has published her research on topics related to sexual well-being and sexual health in journals such as Archives of Sexual Behavior, The Canadian Journal of Human Sexuality, and The International Journal of Sexual Health. She is the recipient of several awards for her research, scholarship, and community involvement.

Dr. Foster's treatment approach focuses on evidence-based therapies tailored to each clients' needs. These clinical approaches include cognitive-behaviour therapy, emotion-focused therapy, short-term psychodynamic therapy, motivational interviewing, trauma-informed counselling, and dialectical behaviour therapy. She is also trained in the WPATH standards of care for gender-affirming therapies for transgender people.
